Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask

If something is missing, write to chuzisupport@gmail.com and we’ll add it here.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. There are no ads and no in-app purchases.

Does it work offline?

Yes. All workout logging is local: you can use the whole app in a basement with no signal. You only need a connection to sync, for the social side, for the cardio map and to look up food by barcode.

Do I need an account?

No. You can use it as a guest and nothing you log — workouts, weights, meals, routes — leaves your phone. The only thing that can leave is diagnostics: crash reports and a few usage events, without your data in them, and it comes switched off. An account gives you a backup, lets you recover your data when you change phones, and unlocks the social side.

Is there an iPhone version?

Soon. Right now Chuzi is an Android app that also works on Wear OS watches, and the iPhone version is on its way. Sign up for the notice and we’ll write when it’s out.

Can I bring my history from another app?

Yes, from Hevy and Strong. Export your history to CSV there and open it from Profile, in Your data: Chuzi recognises the exercises, understands kilos and pounds and doesn’t duplicate what you already had.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. You can save a full copy of the app to a file and restore it on another phone, no account needed, or export your history to CSV. Whenever you want, without asking anyone.

What is Chuzi’s advice?

Notes worked out from your own history: when you’ve done enough sessions at the same weight to go up, when an exercise hasn’t moved in a month, or which muscle fell short this week. They are never industry averages or generic tips, and they don’t replace a coach or a doctor.

What do my friends see?

Your display name, what you send them (a routine or a gym plan) and your profile: your avatar, your streak, your consistency and the lifts you choose. The profile is set to “Friends only” and you can open it to anyone with an account or close it to everyone, in Social, Your profile. Your per-exercise history, your week and whether you’re training right now are only shared if you turn on “Share progress” in Settings, which comes switched off.

Can I train at the same time as my friends?

Yes, with Train together. Pick a routine, everyone does it on their own phone and at the end you see a summary with everyone’s weights and improvements. Nothing from the others shows up during the workout, so nobody gets distracted. Only the group sees the result, and it’s deleted after 30 days.

What is Discover?

Routines published by people who use Chuzi. Filter them by goal and days, check their ratings and start one with a tap. If you publish yours, anyone with an account sees it next to your display name, and you can take it down whenever you want. Routines that break the rules are hidden.

Does it work with Health Connect?

Yes, if you turn it on in Settings. Your workouts and cardio sessions go to Health Connect, and your weight and steps come in from there. Chuzi doesn’t send anything it reads from Health Connect to any server.

What does the watch do?

With a Wear OS watch you confirm every set from your wrist, fix reps or weight and see the rest left. If you allow it, it measures your heart rate while you train and adds it to the summary. It needs the phone app: the watch is the remote, it doesn’t store anything on its own.

Why does it ask for location permission?

Only to record the route of a cardio activity. If you don’t use that part, you don’t need to grant it and the app works the same.

Can I turn off diagnostics?

Yes, with a switch in Settings. Turning it off stops sending right away, not at the next start.

Does this website use cookies?

Not by itself. No third-party cookie loads until you accept it in the notice, and if you reject it, it never loads. The only things stored without asking are your own answer to that notice and, if you switch language, which language you chose.

How do I get in touch if something breaks?

Write to chuzisupport@gmail.com. There’s a person behind it, not a support centre: we usually reply within two or three days, and if the bug can be reproduced it’s usually fixed in the next version.
